What concrete sealing does for your property

Water beading on a freshly sealed concrete driveway

Surface protection

Keeps moisture and stains out

Concrete is porous. Water, oil and stains work their way into the surface, and over time that shows up as staining and cracking. A sealer puts a barrier across the whole slab so liquids sit on top instead of soaking in, and the concrete stays sound for longer.

  • Protects against moisture, stains and surface damage
  • Stands up to harsh weather and heavy traffic
  • Easier to clean and easier to keep clean

Preparation and application

The prep is what makes it last

Sealer that goes onto a dirty surface will not bond, and it lifts within months. Before any product goes down we pressure clean the concrete, treat the stains that are there and let the surface dry out. The sealer then goes on in even coats, so the cover is consistent across the whole area.

  • Pressure cleaned before every seal
  • Existing stains treated first
  • Sealer applied in even coats

Sealing, cleaning or painting

Which of the three you need

Three of our services treat the same concrete and they do different things. Pressure cleaning lifts dirt, algae and oil off the surface. Driveway painting puts colour on top. Concrete sealing protects the surface and brings out the colour and texture already in the concrete. Where an area is wet or takes heavy foot traffic, we can apply a slip-resistant finish instead.

  • Sealing protects the concrete and deepens the colour
  • Pressure cleaning removes dirt, algae and oil
  • Slip-resistant finish for wet or busy areas

Why Sydney properties benefit from sealing

Extends the life of your slab

Sealing slows the wear that harsh weather, heavy traffic and everyday use put on concrete, so the slab stays sound for longer.

Less maintenance over time

A sealed surface is easier to clean and far less likely to stain deeply or crack, so there is less upkeep to do year to year.

Improves kerb appeal

A freshly sealed driveway or path looks even and well kept, which lifts the look of the whole property from the street.

Suits most concrete surfaces

From driveways and pathways to patios and commercial floors, we match the sealer to what the surface has to put up with.

Safer finishes for wet areas

Where an area is often wet or takes heavy foot traffic, we can apply a slip-resistant sealer, so the surface stays safe as well as protected.

Brings out the colour

Sealing deepens the natural colour and texture already in the concrete, so the surface looks better without being covered over.

Concrete sealing questions answered

Can I use the surface straight after sealing?
Not straight away. How long you need to stay off it depends on the sealer and on the weather that day, so we will not put a number on it here. When we quote the job we will tell you how long to keep off the surface for the product we are using.
Does the concrete need to be cleaned before it is sealed?
Yes, thorough preparation is essential for the sealer to bond correctly and last. We pressure clean the surface and treat any existing stains before applying any product. Skipping this step is one of the main reasons sealers fail prematurely.
How often should concrete be resealed?
Most concrete surfaces benefit from resealing every two to five years, depending on the level of traffic, exposure to the elements and the type of sealer originally applied. If you notice water is no longer beading on the surface, that is usually a sign the sealer has worn and it is time to reseal.
Can you seal concrete that already has cracks or damage?
Minor surface cracks can often be treated and sealed as part of our service. More significant structural damage may need to be assessed and repaired before sealing is carried out. We will inspect the surface when we provide your quote and advise you on the best approach.
Is concrete sealing different from driveway painting?
Yes, they are distinct services. Concrete sealing penetrates or coats the surface to protect it from moisture, staining and wear without necessarily changing its colour significantly. Driveway painting applies a coloured coating to change the appearance of the surface. Both services are available through Nep Tradies, and we can advise which suits your goals.
Do you seal concrete for commercial properties as well as homes?
Yes. We work with both homeowners and businesses across Sydney. Commercial concrete surfaces such as loading docks, car parks and warehouse floors have specific requirements, and we select sealers rated for the traffic and conditions involved.
